911 Services and Emergency Calling Disclosure

Last updated: October 12, 2026

Important Information About 911 Emergency Services

Your safety matters to us.

Juvo Day to Day provides business communications solutions, including EARS by Juvo, that may use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to place and receive telephone calls.

Because VoIP technology operates differently from traditional telephone service, there are important differences and potential limitations associated with calling 911.

Please read this disclosure carefully and make sure everyone who uses your business phone system understands how emergency calling works.

1. Emergency 911 Calling

EARS by Juvo supports emergency calling through its applicable interconnected VoIP services, subject to the technical and geographic limitations described below.

Where required by federal law, 911 and Enhanced 911 (E911) services are provided as part of interconnected VoIP service and are not optional features that customers must separately purchase or request.

Depending on the equipment, location, network configuration, and available emergency calling infrastructure, 911 calls may be routed differently from calls made using traditional telephone services.

In certain circumstances, emergency personnel may not automatically receive accurate location information or may need to confirm your location verbally.

Whenever you call 911, be prepared to provide your exact physical location, telephone number, and the nature of your emergency.

2. Registered Location and Address Information

Accurate location information is essential for emergency response.

Before service begins, Juvo or its designated service provider will obtain the physical location associated with applicable VoIP services.

Customers must provide accurate address information, including relevant building, floor, suite, room, or other location details necessary to assist emergency responders.

If a phone or device is relocated, the customer must promptly update its registered location using the location-update method provided for the service.

Failure to maintain accurate location information may result in emergency calls being associated with an incorrect address or delays in emergency response.

For devices capable of operating from multiple locations, location information will be determined and provided in accordance with applicable FCC requirements and the technical capabilities of the service.

A registered address should never be assumed to update automatically unless that functionality has been specifically confirmed for the device or service being used.

3. Moving Devices and Remote Work

VoIP services may allow users to make and receive business calls from different physical locations, including offices, home workspaces, and other remote locations.

However, moving a device or using a softphone or computer-based calling application may affect how emergency location information is determined.

Customers and users must follow the applicable location registration and update procedures when using services from a different location.

When placing an emergency call from a remote location, users should clearly communicate their current physical address to the emergency operator.

The availability and accuracy of automatic location detection may vary by device, application, network, and service configuration.

4. Internet and Power Dependence

VoIP calling generally requires a functioning internet connection, compatible equipment, and electrical power.

911 calling may be unavailable or interrupted during:

  • Internet service outages or connectivity failures
  • Electrical power outages
  • Network congestion or equipment failures
  • Router, firewall, or network configuration issues
  • Service interruptions or maintenance
  • Other circumstances affecting the availability of the communications network

Backup batteries or power supplies may extend the operation of certain equipment, but they do not guarantee continued emergency calling availability.

Customers should maintain an alternative method of contacting emergency services, such as a properly functioning mobile phone or another independently available telephone service.

5. Emergency Call Routing and Location Information

When a 911 call is placed, the service will route the call and provide applicable caller identification and location information in accordance with federal requirements and the capabilities of the relevant emergency communications infrastructure.

In some circumstances, an emergency call may be handled through an alternative emergency routing arrangement or emergency call center when necessary and permitted by law.

Emergency operators may need to request or verify the caller’s physical location before dispatching assistance.

Juvo cannot control the operations, staffing, or response times of independent emergency communications centers or emergency response agencies.

Customers should not rely solely on the automatic transmission of location information when communicating with emergency personnel.

6. Business Phone Systems and Multi-Line Telephone Systems

Businesses using multi-line telephone systems (MLTS) may be subject to additional federal and state emergency calling requirements.

Direct 911 dialing: Applicable systems must support dialing 911 without requiring users to enter an additional prefix, access code, or outside-line number.

Emergency call notifications: Applicable systems must provide required notifications when a 911 call is placed, where technically feasible and as required by law.

Dispatchable location: Applicable systems must provide location information sufficient to assist emergency responders in locating the caller, including relevant in-building details when required.

Customers are responsible for coordinating with Juvo and any applicable system administrators, equipment vendors, and service providers to establish and maintain the information and configurations necessary for emergency calling.

Responsibilities for system configuration, location administration, and regulatory compliance may be further addressed in applicable customer agreements.

7. Customer Responsibilities

Customers must:

  • Provide accurate physical location information during service setup.
  • Follow the applicable procedures for updating location information when devices or users move.
  • Ensure employees and other authorized users understand the potential limitations of VoIP emergency calling.
  • Maintain appropriate network connectivity and compatible equipment.
  • Review emergency calling arrangements when changing office layouts, phone configurations, or business locations.
  • Display or distribute required emergency calling notices, labels, or warnings as applicable.
  • Maintain a reasonable alternative method of contacting emergency services during service interruptions.
  • Promptly report suspected emergency calling configuration or location errors to Juvo.

Customers should periodically review their emergency calling arrangements with Juvo, particularly when adding locations, relocating personnel, or changing telephone equipment.

8. Customer Notification and Acknowledgment

Juvo or the responsible interconnected VoIP provider will provide required notifications explaining circumstances in which emergency calling may be limited or unavailable.

Applicable subscribers must affirmatively acknowledge receipt and understanding of required 911 service advisories, and records of those acknowledgments must be maintained as required by law.

Required warnings must also be provided through equipment labels or other legally permitted conspicuous notification methods.

Publication of this website disclosure alone does not replace any separate acknowledgment or notification procedures required by law.

9. Third-Party Emergency Services and Providers

Juvo may work with third-party telecommunications providers, emergency routing providers, and other service partners to support emergency calling functionality.

Information necessary to route emergency calls and assist emergency responders may be disclosed to those providers and appropriate public safety authorities in accordance with applicable law.

The availability and functionality of emergency calling services may depend on third-party networks, systems, and emergency communications infrastructure.

These arrangements do not eliminate any emergency calling obligations imposed on Juvo or other responsible providers by applicable law.

10. Service Limitations and Liability

Juvo works to support reliable emergency communications through its applicable services.

However, emergency calling may be affected by technical failures, power outages, internet interruptions, inaccurate location information, or circumstances outside Juvo’s reasonable control.

To the extent permitted by applicable law and the customer’s governing service agreement, applicable limitations of liability may apply to service interruptions and emergency calling failures.

Nothing in this disclosure limits or excludes liability where such a limitation or exclusion is prohibited by law, or waives obligations imposed by federal or state emergency communications regulations.

Any contractual limitations must be interpreted consistently with applicable law and the customer’s executed service agreement.

11. Applicable Laws and Regulations

Juvo’s applicable emergency calling services are subject to relevant federal and state laws, including, where applicable:

  • Federal Communications Commission regulations governing interconnected VoIP and E911 services
  • Kari’s Law requirements concerning direct 911 dialing and emergency call notifications for covered multi-line telephone systems
  • RAY BAUM’S Act requirements concerning dispatchable location information
  • Applicable state and local emergency communications requirements

Emergency calling obligations may vary depending on the type of service, equipment, location, and regulatory classification.

12. Updates to This Disclosure

Juvo may update this disclosure to reflect changes in emergency calling technology, service capabilities, regulatory requirements, or business operations.

The most recent revision date will be displayed at the top of this page.

Material changes will be communicated to customers when required by law.
